: As part of the October 1, 1996 mandate, VAMCs must collect provider information. The provider information reported is the "Person Class" defined for all providers associated with ambulatory care delivery. All VAMC providers must be assigned a Profession/ Occupation code (Person Class) so that a Person Class can be associated with each ambulatory patient encounter.<br />
