Piggyback
Small volume parental solution for intermittent infusion. A piggyback is composed of any number of additives, including zero, and one solution; the mixture is made in a small bag. The piggyback is given on a schedule (example: Q6H). Once the medication flows in, the piggyback is removed; another is not hung until the administration schedule calls for it.
